David Suchet stars as the legendary Lady Bracknell in the 2015 production of The Importance of Being Earnest in London’s West End. There has been no announcements so far on which theatre will house the production, but there is no doubt that the show will be a huge success whatever the venue.

Long Day’s Journey Into Night (2012)
David Suchet is best known and loved for his on screen role as Agatha Christie’s Poirot, but is an old hand with the West End stage. He has been nominated seven times for the prestigious Olivier Awards, recently appearing in the hugely successful A Long Day’s Journey Into Night at the Apollo Theatre (2012) and Arthur Miller’s All My Sons (2010). Suchet’s appearance in The Importance of Being Earnest will surely be a huge draw for his fans as well as for lovers of Oscar Wilde’s beautiful writing.
It has become popular for male actors to take on the role of the formidable Lady Bracknell; Suchet follows in the esteemed footsteps of Brian Bedford and Geoffrey Rush.
The show will be directed by Adrian Noble, former Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company and 20 times Olivier Award nominee. As well as his notable work on multiple Shakespeare plays he has directed the West End productions of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Secret Garden. The show is produced by Kim Poster for Stanhope Productions, who worked with Suchet on A Long Day’s Journey Into Night and All My Sons, and Nimax Theatres’ CEO Nica Burns.
The 2015 production of The Importance of Being Earnest with David Suchet opens a year after the current production at the Harold Pinter Theatre staring Nigel Havers and Siân Phillips.
